At the time of the creation of “Murphy’s Last Stand,” Peter had actually
created two rough polar bear box
figurines. “When Nature Calls” was put on the back burner as he preferred
to develop “Murphy’s Last Stand.”
In 1998, Peter took another look at the embryonic “When Nature Calls”
and felt inspired to continue with its creation.
Here, the Polar Bear is in a happier frame of mind as he patiently
waits for the occupant of the igloo to come out
of the ice tunnel. Little does the polar bear realise that the English
explorer, having sensed the danger outside,
is creating another escape route by removing an ice brick. Murphy and
friend, in exile at the North Pole, are ready
to aid and abet the man's escape. But who will help Peter's mouse?
The seal is not happy to have had his breathing
hole built over and is checking out the igloo for food pickings. Murphy
has left his mark leaving his name in
“Yellow Snow.” Version 1 has a man starting to peek out the back of
the igloo; his head appearing in Version Infinity.
