This ferret box figurine was suggested by Sarah Manningsmith of Arts
West Unique Gifts; she is
a mentioned on the base. The ferret is also the mascot for the UK independent
club Harmony Up North
(aka the HUNnies) and so they also are mentioned. One of the HUNnies
told Peter she only buys the
Treasure Jests that incorporate his tin can motif, so a can is included
to increase sales. Two exotic
caterpillars in Peter’s garden were identified as an Elephant Hawk
Moth and a Lime Hawk Moth:
the initials EHM and LHM on either side of the caterpillar stand for
them. Mars was making an
appearance in the night sky at the time of carving. It’s not every
day you hear the words “closest”
and “34 million miles away” used in the same sentence, so the event
was commemorated on the box.
On the lid are the terms for a male and female ferret: Jill and Hob.
There is also a reference to the
Calvesberts’ new daughter Millie and the date she was born. The interior
shows a ferret relaxing in a hammock.
The mouse is on the other side of the ferret’s tail behind the caterpillar.
Fixed edition of 2500 Version 1 and 2500 Version 2 worldwide.
