This box figurine is from Peter’s golf-crazed days. Even the necks of
the flamingos are reminiscent of golf clubs.
Inside is the bent golf putter of Greg Norman (Australian professional
golfer) who had just been defeated by
Nick Faldo (British) in the US Open. Look for the anagram on the rim
of the base referring to the German outsider
that Peter hoped would win, Alexander Cejka. The mouse is hiding behind
a flamingo neck. The first two
thousand flamingos had black beaks, but due to the number of black
smudges that were occurring, the painting
specification was changed in September 1996 to pale yellow beaks.
Hallmarks include diamond, clock face with month 4, HBC logo, and Pc.
